According to the 13th Amendment, there had to be an individual convicted to be accused legally by the American government as a criminal to slavery and slaves. According to the 14th Amendment, there would not be any privilege given to any citizen to do anything inappropriate with human life or with human property. Therefore, this amendment had been a step towards the ending of slavery. This is because there could not be deprivation of any citizen from enjoying the natural rights. All laws would be applicable equally for every citizen irrespective of the social status/race/color.
